king Dilip and Kamadhenuvu
3. King Dilip’s devotion
As per Vasistas suggestion king Dilip and sudhikshana Devi worshipped Nandini dhenuvu for 21days. She felt happy for their devotion and want to test them. She suddenly disappeared to the Himalayas and went into a cave. A lion by name kumbhodhara who is Lord Shiva’s devotee was in that cave. It’s worked as security for devadharu vruksham which belongs to goddess Parvathi Devi. King Dilip came to save Nandini dhenuvu which became a victim of kumbhodhara then kumbhodhara told like this “dear king! I had a blessing from lord Shiva that I can eat anything which enters into this cave with life. So I won’t leave this Cow. King replied like this “Kumbh od Hara I am also a devotee of Lord Shiva but I had a responsibility to save Vasista’s cow. So accept me as food and leave that cow.” Lion Kumbh od Hara laughed at king Dilip’s words and said,” I heard that you are too intelligent. But how can you speak like this? You are in small age, you are the ruler of the world, you forgot about your wife and people who are living by believing in you and you are keeping your life in danger. If you are alive you can see en-number of cows”. But king Dilip didn’t leave his principles. He stood in front of lion kumbhodhara to accept him as food.
