8. Bull – Virtue or the Dharma

Bull is the symbol of righteousness or dharma. Lord Shiva rides the bull and thus he becomes the ruler of dharma or virtue. One who follows dharma can rule it. So Lord Shiva becomes the embodiments of the dharma or virtue. And most importantly bull is a domestic animal. It symbolises the pacific nature of Lord Shiva towards his devotees.
