4. Different types of Bandages mentioned in Sushruta Samhita
There are fourteen types of Bandages mentioned in ancient medical sciences. Follow down for those fourteen types
- Kosha or Sheath – Around thumb and fingers
- Dama or Long roll – Sling around straight parts of small width
- Svastika or Cross like – Spica around joints
- Anuellita or Spiral – Around upper or lower limbs
- Mutoli or Winding – Circular bandage around neck
- Mandala or Ring – Circular bandage around stumps
- Sthagika or Betel box type – Amputation stumps or around tips of fingers
- Yamaka or Two tailed – Around limbs to treat ulcers
- Khatva or Four tailed – For jaw, cheeks and temples
- Cheena or Ribbon like – Outer angles of eyes and temples
- Vibandha or Loosely knotted noose like – Over back, abdomen and chest
- Vitana or Canopy like – Protective cover over head wound
- Gophna or Cow horn like – Over chin, nose, lips and anorectal region
- Panchangi or five tailed – Head and neck above the level of clavicles
