2. What is meant by gotra?
The actual meaning of gotra is cow, land, guru, and Veda. In ancient days our ancestors used to divide gotras depending on the colour of cow there are 2gotras white cow gotra and black cow gotra , depending on the gurus there are other gotras like vasishta , Vishwa Mitra ., etc. not only this few other people named their gotra on their ancestors. So people who belong to the same gotra are considered as the same family.
