1. What is a Conch or Shankha?
Conch is the shell of large sea snails which live in Indian Ocean. Conch or Shankha is a holy thing used in traditional rituals of Hinduism. As Vishnu Purana says, Shankha is one of the fourteen jewels that emerged out during Ksheera Samudra Mathanam or the epic churning of the great ocean of milk. As per the Hindu Mythology Conch or Shankha belongs to one of the gods of the holy trinity, Sri Maha Vishnu. It is also said that the Shankha is the abode of Goddess Lakshmi and it gives name, fame, longevity, wealth, prosperity and busts all the sins.
